The Swift Current Main Street Incentive Program includes monetary incentives for development of properties located in the Downtown Central Commercial District. The program is designed to provide financial assistance as well as recognition for the appropriate development of both new and existing buildings within the Downtown. A grant and tax incentive program has been adopted by the City to foster the positive reinvestment, restoration, and maintenance of our downtown buildings. Owners of properties within Downtown Swift Current are eligible to receive incentives toward further investments in their properties.
These incentives are offered by the Swift Current Main Street Organization and the City of Swift Current to provide property owners within the Downtown Central Commercial District tangible community support as well as the financial means necessary to assist with the restoration and maintenance of our downtown resources to the benefit of the community as a whole.
Building Revitalization Grants are made at 50% of total eligible costs, to a maximum grant of $10,000.
Heritage Façade Renderings may be available at no cost to the property owner for drawings detailing potential façade refurbishment, restoration, or renovation to the community’s historic roots. This will outline possible projects that may be eligible for additional grants described in the program.
Building maintenance (e.g. gutters, downspouts, foundation work, non-traditional roofing, etc.) may at the discretion of the grant awards committee be funded at 50% eligible costs to a maximum of $2,000(unless part of an overall restoration project).
Signage Grants may be available at 50% of eligible costs to a maximum grant value of $2,000 for funding of appropriate signage.
Downtown beautification, landscaping, and planters may be available at 50% of eligible costs to a maximum grant value of $2,000 for funding of appropriate work.
Main Street Swift Current is offering a grant to cover the cost of a façade rendering to building owners in the designated Main Street area (1st Ave. NW to 1st Ave. NE and North Railway St. E. to Sidney St). See examples of completed renderings below.
